Donna Bella’s New Tools Part 2: The Luxe

Friday, October 25th, 2013

Donna Bella has updated and expanded its hair extension tool line. These new tools are primarily used for the I-Link (beaded) hair extensions, but they also can be used to help remove Kera-Link (fusion) bonds. In this three part blog series, we’re exploring each one of our new tools. This week is the Luxe Hair Extension Tool.

The Luxe has a very modern, simple design. It’s extremely versatile and durable and made of a light, high quality stainless steel. We created this tool for stylists who are serious about beaded hair extensions and spend a lot of time working with the method. We wanted to create a tool they can count on.

Whereas the Classic is best for only Grooved and Silicone beads, the Luxe can handle all hair extension beads – including Flare Beads. The Luxe is more complex and has more functionality than other hair extension tools.

The head of the tool is loaded with special features. The flat tip crimps Silicone and Grooved Beads, and a square-shaped pocket designed for crimping Flare Beads. There is also a small section of ridges that is perfect for breaking up Kera-Link bonds prior to removal. Finally, there’s a special eye that uncrimps all I-Link beads.

Donna Bella’s New Tool – The Classic

Friday, October 18th, 2013

Donna Bella has updated and expanded its hair extension tool line. These new tools are designed mostly for I-Link hair extension and removal, but can also be used with Kera-Link extension removal.

In this three-part series, we’re deciphering the features of each of our new tools so you can select the one that’s best for you. This week: The Classic Hair Extension Tool. If you’re used to the original Hair Extension Tool, then the Classic will be very familiar.

As much as we loved our old Hair Extension Tool, we knew it was time for an upgrade.

We now make the tool with a higher quality stainless steel, for longer-lasting durability and strength. We improved the handle, so it’s easier to grip without being too bulky. The double spring makes every movement smooth and fluid. This ergonomic design makes it easy to use over and over, while still being comfortable.

The head of the tool has several functions. The very tip of the tool is used to crimp I-Link beads. The eye pops open I-Link beads for easy removal. Then, there are grooved ridges that help break up keratin bonds.

Staff Pick – Fun and Edgy Hair Extensions

Friday, October 11th, 2013

Bianca is a graphic designer in our marketing department. Today she’s sharing her latest Donna Bella Hair Extension look.

Type of hair extension: Tape-In

Color: Dark Purple/Dark Fuchsia

Amount: About 26 wefts

Why did you pick these hair extensions? I really love my long bob and I wanted to update my look. I wanted something fun and edgy without committing to a drastic change.

What do you love about your hair? I love that the change seems so dramatic but it was really not. I love that I forget that I have them in until someone says how great and fun my hair looks.

How do you take care of your hair extensions? I don’t give it much thought actually, and that’s what I love about Tape-Ins.  But I do try to be more careful brushing my hair and making sure I use the right products and not go crazy with the heating tools.

What would you recommend to people thinking about getting hair extensions? If you’re worried about diving in, I would suggest to trying some fun highlights to see if you like them or try full head Clip-Ins.

Washing your Hair Extensions

Friday, October 4th, 2013

Keeping your scalp and hair clean is important for beautiful hair. Luckily, it’s easy to wash your hair, even with hair extensions.

  • Use sulfate-free shampoo on your scalp and a sulfate-free conditioner from the mid shaft to the ends.
  • Wash your hair in one direction.  Avoid washing your hair upside down. Don’t scrunch up your hair or rub it harshly. This helps prevent tangling.
  • After rinsing your hair, gently wring out the water so it’s not dripping wet.
  • For extra smooth hair, add a hair mask to the midshaft down. Comb through any tangles and air dry, if possible. If you use a blow dryer, apply a heat protectant first.

Some other things to keep in mind:

Try to wash your hair as infrequently as possible. If your hair is particularly oily, it’s alright to wash it every day, but if you can, try get away with once every two to three days. Dry shampoo is a great way to help extend your hair’s life between washes.
