Prom season with

Every high school girl dreams of going to Prom in the most beautiful dress and the most picture-perfect hair. If you have been trying to grow out your locks just in time for the big event but haven’t had much luck, take the shortcut and make it happen with Donna BellaClip-Ins. They won’t slip and they aren’t permanent. The best thing about them? They are now all on sale until May 5th.

Donna Bella’s human hair Clip-Ins can be styled in any way—even updo’s. They can also be styled with any heat tool. Simply clip them into place and style as usual. Your stylist can help you style them or custom color them for a perfect match (or even a great ombre look for the night). Another great thing about a full set of Clip-In hair extensions is that you can use however many pieces you need or want. If it’s more volume you seek, insert a row or two. If it’s more length and volume you desire, use the whole pack. There are so many possibilities for your dream night. Don’t forget graduation is coming up, too, so even after Prom night you can use them again for your next special occasion.

Already have naturally long thick hair? Try finishing your hairstyle with a few of Donna Bella’s hair accessory pieces—like glow strands or hair jewels—to any hair style for a super glam look. If you’re a boho girl, you should really try wearing your hair down and adding a few hair feathers for a super chic look (also on sale).

Need some ideas on how to style your Donna Bella Clip-Ins? Below are some of our Clip-Ins that have been styled by amazing stylists. Check them out! And, as always, if you need help deciding on your prom look, just ask! We’re always happy to help.

Are Free Installations at Hair Shows Really Free?

Friday, April 17th, 2015

really free

If you’ve been following us on Facebook, you’ve probably seen sign-ups for free hair extension installations. While some think it’s too good to be true, others get put off by the fact that you must purchase the hair. So is it even worth it? Let’s see.

Hair. When you come see us at our booth at any of the hair shows, you’ll automatically receive 10% off any hair purchase. It can be I-Link, Kera-Link, Tape-In, or Clip-Ins; no exclusions. What’s in it for us? It’s a way for us to get you, the customer, to come see us. It’s also a way for you to try out our brand of hair at a discounted price if you’ve never shopped with us before. We figure it’s a win-win situation for both you and us. The catch? The discount is only exclusive to hair show attendees. It will not apply any other time. So if that’s not reason enough to come see us, let’s check out the free installation deals.

Free hair installations are, in fact, free! When you purchase hair from us, you automatically get your hair installed for free when you sign-up. So let’s break this down—on any other day, you would first have to purchase the hair online at regular price. After you receive your hair in the mail, you would take it to your stylist who would then charge you per hour or per strand to put each hair extension in your hair. Some stylists charge anywhere from $50 to $150 per hour or higher if they are going by time. The cheapest price per strand we’ve heard of is around $5. Let’s do the math. On average, a full head takes 5-7 bags of hair. That could cost you anywhere from $310 to $434 (5-7 bags of 16” Tape-ins) for the hair only. Now let’s add the installation price that you would pay your stylist, let’s say $100 (average cost). Your total is now $410-$534. Now let’s see how much you save at the show using the same figures. For 5 to 7 bags of Tape-Ins at the hair show discount price, you’re looking at $279-$390. Now let’s add the installation price: $0. So the total price for hair and installation at a show is $390 at the most.

Stylists. When you get your hair installed for free, not only are you getting it at no cost to you, you’re getting it done by Donna Bella Hair’s top stylists. We have personally chosen each and every single one of our show stylists to represent our brand because we can always expect impeccable work from them. You can go in there confident that each stylist is the most knowledgeable in each method of installation, blending, and matching. Just a little icing on the cake for this sweet deal.

So, is it worth it? If you think so, make sure to catch us at our next show. Visit and click on the events tab to sign up for your free installation. See you there!

Are you using too much product?

too much

The more the better, right? Not always. With some products, a little goes a long way. Sometimes we tend to use too much, which then leads to some technical difficulty when it comes to our hair extensions. Here are a few products that you may be using a little more of than you need.

Bond remover. Soaking your whole head trying to remove Tape-In hair extensions is the improper way of removal, leading to a real sticky mess. As with any product, always follow the directions on the bottle. Bond Remover should only be applied once on the tape. Wait 30 seconds then slide the extensions out. Apply the Bond Remover a second time on the natural hair where the tape was placed to remove any leftover adhesive.

Heat protectants. Although we always advise our Donna Bellas to apply a heat protectant to their extensions before using a heat tool, going overboard on the serum or spray can lead to slippage, limp hair, and fried ends. Heat protectants are meant to protect your hair from the damage of a heat tool. If you’re applying a wet product then using your straightener or wand immediately thereafter, it will definitely fry your hair because it’s still wet. The correct way to apply heat protectants is to follow the directions on the bottle and give your hair some time to absorb it and then style as usual with your styling tool. Applying too much heat protectant can lead to limp hair because too much product is weighing down the hair.

Glosses, serums, and moisturizers. Extensions always look refreshed when you add a shine serum or gloss. Because these are oil-based, they only need to be applied in small amounts. Adding too much of these products will for sure cause your extensions to slip out of their bonds. Always use any oil-based products from the midshaft down to keep your hair moisturized and intact.

Dry Shampoo. Some dry shampoos can leave little bitty white flakes behind, so it’s a trial and error thing when it comes to finding the right dry shampoo for you. But spraying dry shampoo at close distance to the hair will not only leave those annoying flakes behind, but will build up gunk quickly, too. Follow the dry shampoo’s directions; it usually says to spray a certain number of inches away from the scalp.

Shampoo. If you didn’t think there was such a thing as overwashing, there is. You hair extensions and natural hair will both dry out faster if you’re washing your hair everyday. As a rule for our Donna Bellas, you should only be washing your hair once or twice a week at most, using a dry shampoo in-between washes.

Always keep these rules in mind. If there is a product you’re confused about, please ask!

2015 Spring Hair Trends

2015 hair trend

One thing about fashion runways is that you can always get a glimpse of the trends to come. Spring 2015 is all about long, teased hair. So you know those bobs, long bobs, and pixies that everyone was chopping off their locks for? While they were fun, they’ve lived their moment and it’s now time to start growing them out. Thank goodness for hair extensions, right? Here are a few hair trends that were seen on the 2015 spring fashion runway.

Teased hair. If you’ve never tried teasing your hair don’t be intimidated to try it. Extra loose braids, loose buns, and really messy waves will be super popular this spring. Your hair extensions will love this trend because, as you know, hair extensions should always be loose and never too tight anyway.

Braids. You might as well start getting your practice in braiding because this trend isn’t going away anytime soon. From the fish tail, to the loose braid, to the bohemian braid, it’s the perfect hairstyle for work, for a girls night, or best of all, for bed! Try adding a deep part to switch it up a bit.

Low ponytails. Another favorite because it’s quick and low-maintenance on your hair extensions. Depending on where you’re wearing this style, try adding waves by wanding the hair before placing it in a ponytail, or even just wanding the hair once it’s already in the ponytail. Slicked-back deep or side parts are always the easiest ways to give it variety.

Air dried hair. Finally, a hairstyle that requires little to no work at all (and is the best style for your hair extensions). This is one that will definitely be your hair extensions’ best friend. No more blow-drying your hair. To get the look: sleek top and let your ends air dry. That’s it! You can also do this a reverse way; don’t feel like washing your hair? Dry shampoo to maintain the sleekness of your second or third day hair, and mist the ends with water and let them air dry. You can also try adding a small amount of mousse to give your ends more definition.

We’ve been preaching about these styles for a while and finally they’re a trend! What are your thoughts on these hairstyles? Let us know in the box below!
