Finding Your Signature Style

db-blog-Dec-2016-signature

Hair extensions are a great way to experiment with your look, but they’re also perfect for cultivating a “signature” style. Whether you’re preppy, sporty, glamorous, edgy, or down-to-earth, you want your hair to match your lifestyle, your fashion sense, and your attitude, producing that unmistakeable aura that is uniquely you. We’ve written several blog posts in the past aiming to help you uncover your signature hairstyle, covering topics like: how to choose a cut for your face shape and hair texture, where to go for hairstyle tips, and how to choose the perfect Donna Bella extension method for your needs. But that last topic needs some updating, as we’ve introduced a variety of new extension options to our product list. That’s why today we’ll be going over the details of our various extension methods, including their relative benefits for your particular look.

Tape-In
Tape-In is one of our professional (semi-permanent) extension methods, and it is installed by sandwiching sections of the natural hair between two hair extension wefts (or a single weft and a piece of Single Sided Tape, for finer-haired clients). This type of professional extension is the quickest to install, taking only 30-60 minutes, and needs to be moved up every 3-6 weeks. Tape-In extensions can be reused 1-2 times for a total lifespan of about 2-4 months.

People love Tape-In for its easy installation, its natural and comfortable feel, and its exceptionally lightweight, making it great for fine-haired clients, first time extension wearers, and practical, on-the-go women alike. So if you’re interested in permanent length, fullness, or color change, prioritize flexibility and comfort, and/or have fine, thin, sensitive hair, Tape-In may be the option for you.

Kera-Link
Kera-Link is our oldest, longest-lasting professional (semi-permanent) extension method, and it is installed by fusing the extension and natural hair together with melted keratin bonds. This type of extension installs in 2-3 hours, and needs to be moved up every 6-7 weeks. They can be reused 1-3 times for a total lifespan of about 2-4 months.

People love Kera-Link for its durability, its natural 360 degree movement, and its virtually invisible bonds, making it the top pick for experienced extension clients who need a method they can rely on, no matter what. If you are committed to professional extensions, have medium-thick, healthy hair, and want a sturdy, classic extension option, then Kera-Link is your go-to!

I-Link
I-Link is a professional (semi-permanent) extension method that applies with only beads—no glue, tape, or heat required. This type of extension installs in 1-2 hours, and needs to be moved up every 8-12 weeks. They can be reused 1-3 times for a total lifespan of about 3-6 months.

People love I-Link for its super safe installation, easy removal and readjustment, and natural 360 degree movement, making it a winner among newer and more cautious hair extension clients. If you’re interested in permanent length, volume, and/or color change, but want a flexible, non-invasive method, I-Link is the way to go.

Flat-Tip
Flat-Tip is our newest professional (semi-permanent) hair extension method, and it is a hybrid of our Tape-In and I-Link methods. The extension installs with beads—like I-Link—but lays flat against the hair in mini-wefts—like Tape-In. This type of extension installs in 1-2 hours, and needs to be moved up every 8-12 weeks. They can be reused 1-3 times for a total lifespan of about 3-6 months.

People love Flat-Tip for its safe installation (which utilizes no glue, tape, or heat), easy removal and readjustment, natural 360 degree movement, and exceedingly comfortable feel, making it the perfect option for clients who have difficulty choosing between our other professional methods. If you want long-lasting hair extensions and value flexibility, non-invasiveness, and comfort equally, Flat-Tip is your best bet.

Clip-In
Clip-In is an at-home (removable) extension method that is clipped to the hair. This type of extension installs in 5-15 minutes, and removes in under 2 minutes. They can be reused as many times as the user sees fit, and typically reach a total lifespan of about 6-12 months.

People love Clip-Ins because they give them options. Since the hair is removable, it can be put in and taken out at the user’s convenience, and used to achieve a range of different, customizable looks. And, unlike other Ready-to-Wear extension options, Clip-In placement is totally up to the client—each set comes with a series of wefts of various sizes that can be used individually or in unison for varying effects. Beyond that, Clip-Ins are loved for their low-maintenance and quick installation time. Choose this method if you’re new to hair extensions, value flexibility and control over your extension placement, enjoy change, and/or have fine hair.

Solo
Solo is another at-home (removable) crown-style extension method that is applied to the hair by pulling the wire around the crown of the head—like a head wrap—and brushing the top layer of natural hair over the wire. This type of extension installs in seconds, and removes in seconds, too. They can be reused as many times as the user sees fit, and typically reach a total lifespan of about 6-12 months.

People love Solos because they’re incomparably easy and super quick to put on. Solo extensions make for basically instantaneous transformations, adding length, thickness, and/or color without applying any weight to the root area of the client’s natural hair. Change-lovers, new extension wearers, and fine or thin-haired clients all choose Solo for its ease and comfort, and its minimal maintenance regimen. If you’re just getting into the world of hair extensions, have fine or thin hair or a sensitive scalp, and/or prefer to have a removable hair extension option, Solo is where it’s at.

Watch this video to learn more about Solo.

Bangs
Bangs are yet another at-home (removable) type of extension that are not designed to add length or fullness to a head of hair, but rather to add the appearance of bangs to the front of the hair. Our Ready-to-Wear Bangs come in Side Swept and Straight Across style options, and are installed with 3 clips that grip easily and comfortably to the natural hair. This type of extension installs in less than a minute, and removes in under a minute, too. They can be reused as many times as the user sees fit, and typically reach a total lifespan of about 6-12 months.

People love Bangs because they’re a quick and subtle way to revamp their entire look. Bangs have the ability to change the way a person’s face looks, with relatively little change to the appearance of the hair itself. Bangs extensions are also great for quelling the indecision and commitment issues people face when contemplating regular bangs. Rather than cut your hair into a face frame that you’ll later regret, throw on some Bangs extensions that you can simply take off at the end of the day! Choose Bangs extensions if you’re after a new way to complement your current hairstyle.

Getting to Know Sono by Donna Bella Hair

getting-to-know-sono

We’ve mentioned Sono before, but we think it’s about time for an update. Last year we introduced a brand new line of 100% human, removable hair extensions for the commitment-wary extension lover, including Bangs extensions, Solo (halo) extensions, and a range of Clip-Ins in various lengths and weights. These extensions became available through our branch company—Sono by Donna Bella—on a custom-made site tailored to stylists and clients alike. Now, we’ve brought the Sono goodness a little closer to home, introducing a brand new “Ready-to-Wear” section to our product categories where you can find all of Sono’s offerings, in addition to our existing Clip-In pages. This enables you to browse conveniently from the comfort of our Donna Bella site, and to use your existing Donna Bella account to make Sono purchases! And, to celebrate, we’re offering an exclusive 15% discount to Donna Bella site users who purchase from the Ready-to-Wear line, from now until September 8th!

Some of you may already be familiar with our new-and-improved removable hair extensions, as well as the many style tutorials that go with them! But for those of you who are new to the Sono game, here are the facts that you need to know:

There are 3 methods, and they’re great for any hair type.
We’ve been touting Clip-In hair extensions for a while now, explaining how they’re great for ambivalent hair extension clients who want a test run before committing to a professional method. Like the rest of our Sono by Donna Bella line, they’re also great for ever-changing hair enthusiasts who want flexibility in their daily look, and for clients of all hair types and thicknesses—even finer-haired clients! Solo hair extensions, for example, fall from a single wire that sits around the crown of the head, meaning that this method applies no weight or pressure to the hair strands themselves! And Bangs extensions follow suit, attaching with three comfortable clips to the hairline.

They’re 100% human, guaranteed.
That longstanding Donna Bella promise of premium quality, 100% human hair applies to Sono hair extensions, too. Each and every strand in our Sono by Donna Bella hair extensions is fully human, sourced from the pristine hair of Indian women engaging in religious worship. That means that you can treat your Sono extensions as you would your own hair—treating them with sulfate-free products, drying them with heat protectant in place, and styling them to suit your tastes.

There are 3 distinct lengths available, and you can get each length in 1 of 2 weights.
Sono Clip-Ins and Solo hair extensions come in 16”, 18”, and 20” lengths for a range of possible looks. Plus, each length comes in 2 different weights—Regular or Deluxe—for varied thickness to match your natural locks! That’s a total of 6 extension customization options per method!

Bangs are here, and there are 2 varieties.
Skip the endless snipping-then-growing-out cycle and help yourself to removable Bangs extensions! You can go the classic route with the Straight Across style, or rock your inner side-bang girl with the Side Swept style.

Pick from 16 familiar Donna Bella colors.
Sono by Donna Bella extensions come in colors 1, 1B, 2, 3R, 4, 6, 6/10, 8, 10, 12/600, 24, 27, 27/613, 30/33, 613, and 1001. That means you can still use your good-old Donna Bella Color Ring to arrive at the perfect match!

Hang them up at the end of the day.
Removable means you can put the hair away when you’re done wearing it, limiting the need for hair extension-oriented showering or sleeping routines. And now, you can put your hair away in clean and tidy style, using the Sono by Donna Bella Extension Hanger and Sleeve! (Other Sono-inspired tools are available, too.)

If you have any more questions about Sono by Donna Bella extensions, check out the Sono YouTube channel. It’s full of useful Sono-related information, and more! And don’t forget to take advantage of 15% off the Ready-to-Wear line while it lasts!

Summer Clip-In Care

db-blog-Aug-2016-summer-clip-in

Every season has its own quirks and distinctions, and the same thing goes for seasonal hair care. In the winter you try to lock-in moisture. In the summer you try to fight frizz and sweat. But did you know that there are even differences between seasonal hair care regimens for permanent vs. removable hair extensions? While all hair extension wearers should protect their hair from heat, sun, sweat, dry or dusty air, and swimming water, the ways in which you accomplish these things may differ between permanent vs. removable methods. So here’s our advice for you Clip-In wearers out there, so you can enjoy long, beautiful, newly-out-of-the-box quality hair all summer long.

Know how to wear your Clip-Ins summer-style.
Summer Clip-In use involves paying extra attention to the clips and ends of your extensions; clips because they’re more prone to slipping in sweaty hair, and ends because they’re more prone to drying in summer weather. For some extra grip, consider spraying the roots of your natural hair with dry shampoo or texturizing spray, then twisting the hair before clipping the extension to it. For smooth, well-moisturized ends, apply leave-in conditioner and a heat protectant from the midshaft down, then wear your hair up in a protective style. For bonus points, add a hat!

Know how to store.
We always recommend hanging your (dry!) extensions when storing them. It keeps the hair smooth and organized, and just generally more presentable than when stuffing them into a box. But, if you are hanging your extensions in the summer, make sure you cover them with a case or static-free fabric to avoid friction and frizz. Otherwise, stack the extensions on top of each other, twist or braid the length of the hair, and tuck it back into the original packaging in a loop. Store the hair in a cool, dry place for maximum defense.

Know when to wear and when to store.
The beauty of Clip-In hair extensions is that you can install them and remove them whenever and wherever you like. That means that, instead of having to take several precautions to defend your extensions from chlorine discoloration or sun-related bond damage, you can just remove the extensions before you find yourself in a hair-compromising situation. We routinely recommend that you avoid tanning, swimming, exercising, or sleeping with Clip-In hair extensions in place. During the summer, we also recommend that you avoid sunbathing with them on, as colored hair is more susceptible to heat damage. When you’re not wearing your hair extensions, take advantage of the opportunity to give them some revitalizing treatments. Deep-conditioning masks, leave-in conditioners, and hot-oil treatments can all work their magic without getting in the way of your summer exploits. But remember the rule of thumb: no sulfate products, and no products near the clips of the extensions.

Do you wear Donna Bella Clip-In hair extensions? We’d love to see your summer hair photos! Submit yours to our Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter social media pages for a change to be featured. And, if you have any stories or questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below!

Extension Tips for Thin-Haired Ladies

DB_ExtensionsThinHair_Blog

Hair extensions are for everyone, and that includes fine or thin-haired women. With recent innovations in hair care and hair extension varieties, thin-haired women don’t need to worry anymore about extensions putting too much strain on their slender roots; all they need to worry about is knowing what to look for. So here are our expert recommendations for you fine or thin-haired ladies, to make your extensions shopping that much easier:

  1. For professional extensions, choose Tape-In. If you’re in the market for a professional hair extension method, Tape-In is the one for you. Tape-In hair extensions come in wefts so that the hair is dispersed along a wider surface area. What this means is, when Tape-Ins are installed into your hair, the weight of the extensions will be dispersed across a section of your hair (rather than concentrated on a single strand). Unsurprisingly, this has made Tape-In a favorite among finer-haired clients.
  2. Use Single Sided Tape. Another fine-hair friendly benefit of Tape-In is that there are two ways to install it–one that utilizes two Tape-In wefts sandwiched on either side of a strip of hair, and one that utilizes a single Tape-In weft in the front and a piece of Single Sided Tape in the back. Opting to use Single Sided Tape in lieu of an additional extension means that even less weight is being applied to the hair section. We recommend that those of you with particularly fine or fragile hair opt for this tactic, seeing as it was designed with you in mind!
  3. Invest in dry shampoo. Fine hair tends to need more washing than thick hair, as scalp oil saturates thin hair more quickly. But, with professional extensions, you’re not supposed to wash your hair too often–ideally no more than twice a week. The solution? Dry shampoo. Get your hands on some to keep your scalp area clean and dry without the extra shower. It’s better than risking Tape-In slippage!
  4. Consider Clip-Ins. Clip-In extensions are great for women who are on the fence about professional methods, as well as women who just like to have some flexibility with their look. They also happen to be great for finer-haired ladies. Like Tape-Ins, Clip-Ins come in wefts, so they share that aspect of dispersing extension weight along a wider section of hair. You can also choose how many Clip-Ins you would like to apply to your hair at any one time. You’d only need a couple to add some volume to your hair, and fine-haired women might not need a whole set to achieve convincing length. Best part is, if the hair starts to get uncomfortable, you can simply remove it.
  5. Spritz, twist, clip. If you do go for Clip-Ins and find that you have a hard time getting them to grip to your hair, try the spritz-twist-clip technique. First, spritz some dry shampoo or texturizing spray to your roots for a little grit. Next, twist the section of hair where you’ll be applying the clip. Finally, clip the hair extension in place. You should be good to go for hours after that.

A Simple Guide to Clip-In Hair Extensions

db-blog-June-2016-simpleclip

Clip-In hair extensions are an important part of any stylist’s product arsenal (and any beauty enthusiast’s wardrobe). They’re comfortable, convenient, easy to style and care for, and increasingly popular among the fashionable crowd. But there’s a whole lot more to them than meets the eye. Here, we provide you with a snapshot guide to everything you need to know about Donna Bella Clip-Ins.

Who are they for?
Clip-Ins are for everyone, but they’re especially great for commitment-phobes, change-lovers, thin-haired ladies, and clients who are considering a professional method but want to try extensions out, first.

What are they like?
Donna Bella Clip-Ins are made from 100% Human hair, though we do offer a Heat-Friendly Synthetic option, too. They’re dyed to perfection, so you should experience little-to-no color fading. And each package comes with 113 grams of hair in the form of 8 extension pieces:

  • one 9” weft
  • one 7” weft
  • two 6” wefts
  • and four 1.5” wefts.

What varieties are available?
Donna Bella Clip-Ins come in either 100% Human or Heat-Friendly Synthetic, as well as a range of lengths and colors. You can even choose to purchase a full package or individual strands. Here’s a breakdown of what’s available, depending on the type.

Full-Head Set
100% Human                                            Heat-Friendly Synthetic

20” Straight

Colors 1, 1B, 2, 4, 4/33, 6, 6/10, 6/24, 8, 10, 10/12, 10/613, 24,

Dark Fuchsia, Green, Orange (18”), Pink, Purple, Red

What tools do I need?
We recommend that you complement your DB Clip-Ins with:

You’ll also want to invest in a good hanger or container for storing the extensions. Our sister brand offers one here.

How long does it take to install them?
Depending on how many wefts or clips you’re installing, installation time will take anywhere from 5-15 minutes.

How do I install them?
Like this:

  1. Clean, brush, and dry hair before installing, or apply a dry shampoo or texturizing spray to reduce oil and increase grip. Clip-In hair extensions are designed to stay in place without backcombing the roots before installation, but some women with finer hair may find that this step helps their extensions stay in more securely. For extra grip, twist hair before attaching the clip.
  2. Part your hair in a T-shape, then take your first section at the low occipital.
  3. Make a horizontal part 2 inches above the nape of your neck. Lift the hair above the part and secure with clips.
  4. Position one of the six-inch pieces below the part with the clips facing in. Snap the center clip into place, followed by the two outer clips.
  5. Make another horizontal part one inch above the first row. Lift the hair above the part and secure the hair with clips.
  6. Position the second six-inch piece below the part. Snap the center clips, then snap the two outer clips into place.
  7. Make another horizontal part one inch above the second row and secure hair above the part.
  8. Position the nine-inch piece below the part. Snap the center clips into place, followed by the two outer clips.
  9. Make another horizontal part one inch above the third row and secure hair above the part. Be careful to avoid any splits in the hair.
  10. Position the seven-inch piece below the part. Snap the center clips into place, followed by the two outer clips.
  11. Move to the side, parting the hair right next to the top extension in the back.
  12. Place one of the 1 ½” wefts just slightly overlapping the top extension in back.
  13. Take a diagonal back section, starting a little bit behind the hairline (so that there’s enough hair to cover the extensions).
  14. Place another 1 ½” weft along the part line.
  15. Repeat on the opposite side.
  16. Blend and shape the extensions, or simply brush them into place.

How do I remove them?
To remove, simply unclip each weft by placing even pressure in the center of the clip while pulling upward from the sides. This should take no more than 2 minutes total.

How do I care for them?
Like this:

Brushing

  • Use the Extension Brush to brush over the attachments of any hair extension method in a way that does not snag or pull the hair. It distributes the oil from your scalp to the rest of the hair and keeps the extensions tangle-free.
  • Brush 2-3 times per day and before washing or wetting hair.
  • To brush, hold the weft at the roots with one hand to support the bonds. With the other hand, brush gently, starting at the ends and working up toward the scalp. Always go in a downward direction to preserve the hair’s natural direction.

Coloring

  • Use the Color Ring to select the perfect match for your client’s hair.
  • Because the hair is 100% human you may color the hair to a level of your choice.
  • Do a strand test.
  • Use only demi or semi- permanent color.
  • Deposit, don’t lift.
  • Stay within 2 shades of original color.
  • Color extensions when they are not installed in the hair (to prevent color from getting close to the bonds).
  • Remember that extensions will process darker, duller, and faster than your own hair. You may need to color them more than once for a lasting effect.
  • Do not swim with your extensions on. Swimming in salty or chlorinated water with your hair extensions on could cause drying and color change due to mineral buildup.
  • Be careful not to get any self-tanner on the hair extensions.

Styling

  • Use sulfate-free products, only.
  • Use salon-quality products for optimal results.
  • Extensions can be washed, curled, blow-dried, straightened, and processed.
  • Use a heat protectant, low heat settings, and avoid heat styling and chemicals whenever possible.
  • Keep all heat and product away from the bonds. Condition only from the midshaft down.
  • Don’t relax or perm the hair–especially the blond hair.

Storing

  • Don’t sleep in the extensions.
  • Brush the hair before storing.
  • Store them in the original packaging, or in a bag or box to keep them from getting tangled or dirty.
  • Consider braiding them before storing.
  • Only store the hair once it is fully dry.

Washing

  • Extensions take longer to dry than ordinary hair.
  • Remove before you wash them.
  • Wash 2-3 times per week, or every 3-4 times you use them.
  • Use Dry Spray Shampoo to absorb excess oil between washes and keep hair looking and feeling clean.
  • Sulfate-free products, only.
  • Use salon-quality products for optimal results.

How long will the Clip-Ins last?
With modest use and optimal care, your Clip-Ins should last up to a year (and maybe even longer).

5 Easy Ways to Update Your Hairstyle

db-blog-March-2016-update-hairstyle

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been talking a lot about spring updates—things like spring cleaning your old extensions and saving your change-loving hair from over-processing. But if you’re sitting there thinking, “I don’t have hair extensions,” and/or, “I don’t have time to color or process my hair,” then keep reading! We’ve got some easy, low-maintenance spring updates in mind for you.

1. Change your part. Possibly the fastest way to change your hairstyle (and overall look), updating your hair part can draw attention to a new and previously under-explored area of your face! Depending on how deep the part is, side parts tend to emphasize the eyes or cheekbones, whereas center parts highlight the symmetry of your face. Changing your part can also change the way your face shape reads by accentuating either the length (center part) or width (side part) of your features.

2. Switch your products. If you’ve been using the same hair care products for forever, now is the time to switch things up. Try a shampoo that’s specifically designed for your hair color—like John Frieda Brilliant Brunette for darker-haired ladies, or Aveda Camomile Shampoo for blondes—to bring out the tonality of your strands, or introduce a color-modifying shampoo like John Frieda Go Blonder or Joico Color Endure Violet to change the tone of your hair. There are also products that accentuate curls, tame frizz, straighten hair…you name it! Pick up a bottle of something new and take it for a spin.

3. Embrace natural. Sometimes the most flattering look is the one you woke up with—or, at least, some version of it. If you’re the kind of person who’s inclined to curl or smooth away your natural texture, step back for a moment and think about playing up your hair’s unique quirks. The easiest way to do this is to match your products with your hair texture (see above), and to implement some quick night-time routines. Wavy-haired ladies: sleep with braids for a more uniform texture. Curly-haired ladies: twist your hair around a headband for perfect morning ringlets. Straight-haired ladies: twist all of your hair into a single (loose) topknot, then cover it with a silk headwrap for sleek-bodied volume.

4. Toy with bangs. Bangs have the power to instantly transform your entire appearance, and Clip-In bangs let you do it without the long-term commitment. Pick up a set from our sister site and try them out for yourself! You can even choose between straight bangs and side bangs, or find your best match with this quiz.

5. Try hair extensions. Maybe you’re into the idea of trying out a new color, or experimenting with length and thickness, but just don’t have the time or willpower to commit to the salon schedule and upkeep. That’s okay! Clip-In hair extensions can do the trick without making a dent in your time, hair, or pocketbook. Here at Donna Bella, we offer both 100% Human and synthetic Clip-In hair extension options for your varied needs. You can order single strands for highlights or a pop of color, a full-head set for a new all-over look, and all manner of hair accessories to go with them. So test away!

Party with Donna Bella Hair

party with Donna Bella1

We’ve all heard of tupperware parties and those body wrap parties. But have you thought of a Donna Bella Hair party? If you’re a stylist coming into the hair extension industry, this would be a great way to introduce yourself to potential future clients. If you’re a seasoned hair extension stylist looking to increase your income, this is a great way to share your services. There are several ways to approach something like this, but we thought we would share the quickest and easiest ideas for your Donna Bella Hair Party.

Clip-Ins are obviously a great way to introduce a person who has never thought about wearing extensions. Even though you have nothing to do with the installation, you can certainly offer custom coloring services, a custom cut, or custom blending for each set of Clip-Ins. Clip-Ins will be your secret money maker.

Tape-Ins are just a good idea for a hair party in general. If you’re doing a demo party, you can install them on the spot since they don’t take much time. We also suggest using the Funky colors to install a few pieces as highlights at your demo party, or even at a little girl’s birthday party—with the consent of her parents, of course.

If you partner up with a makeup artist you can also host a makeover party, which could take longer, but can also provide your guests with entertainment while they wait to be next. Of course, if you’re taking on something like this, keep the group small. You don’t want to be there all day. These types of parties are a great way to get some really good before and after pictures to show off your work on social media, plus a great way to promote your work through word of mouth.

We’d like to help you plan your own Donna Bella Hair Party. If you need ideas or have any questions, please ask!

Clip-Ins: The Secret Money Maker

Clip Ins the secret money maker

In this market, you have to be competitive, constantly thinking of ways to be ahead of the game. One mistake you can make as a stylist is overlooking the method of Clip-Ins. Why? Because it’s the fastest growing method of hair extensions. A lot of women are finding they don’t have the time to sit in a chair for a full installation of extensions, or they don’t want the commitment that comes with the maintenance of Tape-Ins, Kera-Links, or I-Links. Clip-Ins will be the easiest money making method of hair extensions for you. Sure, there are a lot of hair extension companies that offer Clip-Ins, but there are very few stylists that offer Clip-In services. Here are some small and simple ways you can grow your income and clientele with this growing trend. Check them out!

Customize. While each set of Clip-Ins are made the same, each client isn’t the same. This is where you, as the stylist, come in. It’s hard for a client to find her exact match of hair; sometimes you can come really close, but not the same. Offer to order and custom color her Donna Bella hair extensions to her exact match. Before you offer this service, make sure you’ve played with color on our hair extensions. Some color formulas make our hair extensions react differently, so make sure you always do a test strand and follow our coloring rule: always deposit, never lift. A lot of stylists have clients who play with colors #600 and #1001 to deposit color, especially for an ombre custom color job.

Blend. A full set of Clip-Ins is made to be “one size fits all”, however, each one of our clients has a different texture of hair, head size, and some have more hair than others. Offer to install their Clips-Ins and customize them to fit them specifically by blending them in. Remind them to choose a method for putting the hair away in order, so that they know which row goes where when placing them back on their head. A custom blend is always necessary for any type of hair extension anyway right?

Special occasions. Bridals, quinceaneras, sweet sixteens, weddings, and any other special occasion share one common question: “How am I doing my hair?” This is probably the most popular Clip-In service because women want that one-night glam, but they also want to be able to go back to normal as soon as it’s over. If you’ve ever worked with our Human Hair Clip-Ins you know they are super easy to work with and can be styled any which way, even with heat.

Hopefully these will give you some more Clip-In ideas. And as always, we love to hear your questions and concerns, so drop them below!

Hair for the Holidays

Hair For the Holidays

It’s that time of giving and receiving again. Time for spending time with our family and loved ones, which also means trying to find the perfect gift for each one of them. Here’s a question: how would you feel about receiving hair extensions as a gift? As a Donna Bella Hair customer, we know you would love it and we’re almost positive your friends and family would feel the same way if they received their own Donna Bella Hair. If you’re out of gift ideas, here are some suggestions from the Donna Bella Hair Team:

Clip-Ins. Why? We haven’t met anyone who has tried them and has not fallen completely in love with them. There is no commitment and no cost for installation. It’s super convenient for busy moms that don’t have the time to style their hair, let alone sit in a chair waiting on their installation to be complete. It’s also perfect for first time hair extension wearers so they can get the hang of having longer hair and then upgrade to Tape-Ins, I-Links, or Kera-Links. Even if they already wear hair extensions, Clip-Ins are great for those moments they can’t get in with their stylist, or for when they’d like to give their hair a break. You can never go wrong with Clip-Ins.

Donna Bella Hair gift cards. Everyone loves gift cards, so why not give them gift cards for their own makeover? Since we don’t expect you to know their color, length, or method of preference, we suggest a gift card—that way they can purchase the hair they want and love you forever for their new look. Best part about it: if you shop with us on Black Friday, you’ll receive gift cards for spending a certain amount. So what better way to shop for yourself and get something for your loved ones at the same time?

Stocking stuffers. If you want some really awesome stocking stuffers, our hair tinsel and hair jewels are perfect for Christmas or a night on the town for New Years Eve, and our hair feathers are always fun on any day.

Don’t miss our Black Friday weekend Sale, you might even win a golden strand.  If there are any questions or suggestions you’d like answered from us, let us know. Happy holidays and happy shopping!

Hair Extensions Tailored to Fit Your Budget

Since the demand for hair extensions has increased, manufacturers have made it possible for more women to afford them. By offering a variety of installation methods and hair quality, women everywhere can have longer, fuller hair, without it costing them an arm and a leg. Whether you’re shopping for hair extensions for yourself or for your salon, here are things to consider when shopping for hair extensions to help you stay within your budget.

Tape-Ins. These are the easiest and fastest to install for a hair stylist. The installation time can range from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. Because it’s such a quick installation, Tape-Ins aren’t as expensive when it comes to the application time. As of now, Tape-Ins are the latest trend because of their seamless, natural finish. Their high quality will also last you up to three months with proper care, before your next move up appointment.

I-Links. You still get the same amount of hair in grams as any other hair method. However, you will be spending a little more on installation because this method involves installing each strand by connecting them to your natural hair with micro-beads. The minimal time for installation is 2 hours but it can surely take longer depending on the thickness of your hair. It’s a client favorite because it requires no heat, glue, bonds, or chemicals. Because the beads are so tiny, they are easily hidden in your hair. If properly cared for, they can last you 3 to 4 months before your move-up appointment.

Kera-Links. These, like the I-Link method, are installed strand by strand. Instead of using a bead like the I-Links, Kera-Link extensions use keratin bonds that are fused into each strand of your natural hair. This method is also known as Fusion. It is the oldest method of installation because of the ultimate styling potential—no beads or tape to hide! If cared for properly, these will last you as long as I-Link hair extensions before your next move-up appointment. Again, these will be more costly due to the time spent for installation.

Clip-Ins. If your budget is super tight, Clip-Ins are always a great option. They are a combination of long and single wefts that you install yourself by using the clips that are attached on the weft to your natural hair. Because they are only attached by a clip like a hair barrette, they will need to be taken out at the end of the day. If you don’t mind taking the time to place and take these in and out of your hair each day, then this method will be perfect for you.

All three hair methods come in 100% human remy hair which means you can reuse them for up to a year. Clip-Ins come in synthetic and remy. The price of hair extensions are based on the method of installation (time it takes to install), length (the longer in inches, the more pricey they get), and the hair quality (synthetic versus human remy). Since human remy is the highest quality of hair extensions, they will be more expensive than synthetic hair. You cannot apply heat styling tools to synthetic hair like you can to human remy.
