Thanksgiving is only a couple of days away, and many of us are likely getting ready to travel back home in order to be with friends and family for the holiday. Even though there’s a lot to be thankful for, sometimes it’s hard not to let the stress of the preparations rain on our gratitude parade. Our advice? Take the time to pamper yourself this Thanksgiving season, because a little self-directed gratitude can make you better able to share your appreciation for others, too! Here are a couple of ways you can treat yourself right now.
Deep Breaths
Breath is something we almost always take for granted, but it feels so good to take a couple of moments and really focus on breathing fully and deeply. It’s like pressing a reset button on your body, and you’ll return to your day feeling calm and revitalized--a much better outlook for tackling the holidays!
Full-Body Stretches
If you’re like most people in North America, you’re carrying stress and tension in your body 24/7, and the only reason why you don’t notice it is because you’ve gotten used to it. Think about your jaw for a second. Is it relaxed, or is it clenched? How about your forehead? Your shoulders? A full-body stretch routine is heavenly, and you can find a load of them online!
Quality Snuggling
Lasso one of your nearest and dearest--be they a partner, parent, child, sibling, friend, pet...whatever--and engage in some uninterrupted, mutually-beneficial snuggling. Physical contact is a crazy-effective pick-me-up, and comfy too!
